Quaker week at Ealing Quaker Meeting

Who Are Quakers?

National Quaker Week is taking place from the 22nd - 30th September 2007, with the aim of making Quakers more visible to the wider community.

(Or just telling people that we don’t make oats.)

There will be stands about Quakerism like this

Ealing Quaker Meeting will be taking part by hosting an open afternoon, with information about Quakerism available to anyone wishing to find out more.

You will be able to find out about what Quakers believe, and what we do, on Sunday 30th September, at any time between 2 - 4 pm, with a Meeting for Worship taking place from 4.00 to 4.30.

A range of displays will be set up to introduce different aspects of Quakerism, including:

  • Quakers and peace
  • Faith in action
  • Criminal justice
  • Christianity and other faiths

Quakers from Ealing Meeting will be happy to talk about their experiences, and we will also be showing a short video about Quakers. There will also be an open meeting for worship, and some young people from the meeting be talking about being a young Quaker.

We hope it’ll be fun and worthwhile, and if you have wondered about Quakers before, this could be a great opportunity to find out a little more about us - without feeling under any sort of obligation. We hope you can make it!

In the meantime, there is plenty of online information about Quakers to look at (in new windows):

Discover the Quaker way - A lovely little site to help you do just that!

Youtube - Find out what Quakers are, in video snippets.

BBC Religion - Quakerly info, organised by the BBC.

Quaker Quest - Open and relaxed events to help you find out about the Quaker way of life.

And if that isn’t enough, you can have a look at more links, find out about Quakers Today, and see how to get to our meeting house.
